Juanita Diusabá Yusunguaira

Juanita Diusabá Yusunguaira, Colombian Winemaker and Sommelier, is our next Leading Ladies in Wine feature. She inspires us as a world traveller and her belief in “Carpe Diem”. Juanita's passion for wine, food, and community highlights her stature as a leading lady in wine.

Juanita's interest began within her family as her father raised her with stories inspired by wine and travel. His perspectives brought much of her understanding about viticulture, and she gained further insights via his books. With her father's guidance, her belief in a successful wine pairing comes from understanding different cultures, including their farming and history of ancestral cuisine. The knowledge of the flavors of each grape varietal also correlates heavily with the spices used in the chef's palate.

Juanita's favorite wine comes from her experience in Estate Seven Hills Vineyard, Walla Walla AVA, WA. The Luminesce wine from L'Ecole No 41 Winery is an extraordinary Bordeaux blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. She pairs this with fresh sourdough bread with Goat Leonora Cheese. Juanita advises you to experiment with the unconventional.

Juanita's passionate and unconventional approach to wine, paired with her belief in cultural variety being a key factor in perfecting wine pairings is just the kind of thing that inspires us at PairAnything! Like Juanita, we realize there's much enjoyment to be found in pairing amazing wine selections with culturally diverse cuisines and flavors. At PairAnything we aim to usher in more inclusivity within the industry while elevating enjoyment for non-traditional wine cultures and younger generations. As we work to help others cultivate diversity within the industry, we too are ready to "seize the day!”
